Wellington Insight Meditation Community Te Puaki Marama

We are a community-led group that offers an open space which emphasises individual inquiry and a big hearted attitude to both formal practice and our meetings as a group.

The core of the community is the Thursday evening meeting which takes place from 7-9 pm at 31 Hobson Cres, Thorndon. Because another group has booked this venue for one Thursday evening a month, you’ll need to check on the calendar tab to find out where the group will be on a particular Thursday.

Following 30 - 40 minutes silent meditation, sessions usually start with a recorded dharma talk followed by an optional discussion.

A Thought for Today

As we give ourselves to the practice of mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion, our habitual patterns of attachment and separation are seen for what they are: painful and unnecessary mistakes... We can begin to live in a way that enables our hearts to include rather than exclude, to open rather than constrict, to go forward with energy of lovingkindness rather than held back by illusion of separation.

— Sharon Salzberg, "Lovingkindness"
